THE
MUSCLE
Graham
Hi there. I am 53 years old and was born in Dartford, Kent. I went to school at Swanley Secondary Modern and left at 15 with no qualifications. I started my working career as a trainee ladies hairdresser and stuck that for almost a year before taking a job as a dispatch rider in London for about another year. I then joined the army. After my time there, I trained as a mechanic. When I got fed up with getting my hands dirty I went into taxi driving for 15 years! The picture above shows me fishing in crock infested Daintree, Queensland. I now work in the hotel trade & live on the Romney Marsh along with my family (wife & 4 grown up kids) but I am now looking for a new challenge so when I saw the Mongol Rally website I knew this was it! Now all I had to do is find some one barmy enough to do it with me! Enter Liz – always up for a challenge!!!!
THE
BRAINS Liz Hi! I’m Liz – the Brains of the operation (or so I like to think)!! I’m 23 and have lived on the Romney Marsh most of my life (spent a 9 month stint in Ipswich, which was like home from home)! I have just graduated from Canterbury Christ Church University with a 2:1 BSc Single Hons Geography degree and have started my teacher training with much indecision about whether it was a good move or not! I met Graham three years ago when I worked as a barmaid at ‘The Local’ (Rose and Crown, Old Romney) and we have hit it off ever since. I am hoping that my geography degree will help us get to Mongolia in one piece although when we originally discussed this last year, I described the journey to Mongolia as get on the M20, go to Dover, cross the channel, turn left and keep going for several thousand miles and then head downward a bit! I don’t think I am that far off the mark…… I am currently head of Sponsorship and it is my task to grovel, beg, plead, whine and do anything necessary (within reason!) to get the sponsorship money together to start the challenge! |
